What’s the role of a Graphic Designer during the creation of a boardgame ?
Timelapse is an hybrid narrative investigation game, mixing boardgame and augmented reality, with the goal to bring the players into a criminal investigation in a dystopian Paris.
This project, realized with another person, was a good opportunity to explore what are the possibilities for us to create and where we can act in this activity field. Although we had some common interests, we had different approaches and practices too. So the idea was to share our skills to collaborate for the creation of this boardgame. This is how the envy to creation an hybrid game with physical and digital dimensions could exist.
Often used as a simple tool to play, the digital dimension, symbolized by the Smartphone, is directly justified and justifiable by the diegesis, offering to us the possibilities to embody a character living in the universe. Logo Timelapse
For Timelapse logo, i was inspired by the lore of the game and its gameplay. The idea was to symbolize the temporal paradox in three phases: an action in the past that has repercussions in the future. From a crack, to an explosion.
Logo Thémis
« Surveiller, Protéger, Servir », or in English " To Monitor, To Protect, To Serve ", this is the brigade' slogan. I designed a logo that synthesizes these three terms. Thémis is a system that uses monitoring for protection, so i had to put it on the center of the image. The eye symbolizes the monitoring and the lines draw the shield, often use as a protection symbol. All of these elements allowed me to create a logo with a strong message.
